• 1990 – 1998


This stage represents the transition from the centralized economy to the market economy.

- 1990 – the former Enterprise for Machine Tools becomes The Commercial Company Machine Tools S.A.;

- 1990 – 1994 – the economic recession led to a massive personnel reduction from 4500 to a number of 1200 employees;

- 1990 – 1995 – as a consequence of the Romanian economy recession and of a dysfunctional management, the sales decreased considerably, some international sale markets have been lost, the production being focused on the requests of the domestic market: various goods, spare parts for trucks, food industry machinery, bread manufacturing industry and wood processing industry, etc;

- 1994 – the first mill roll grinding machine – type MRC 1950 x 10.000 (maximum grinding diameter of 1950 mm, maximum length of 10.000 mm) is manufactured for the first time in Eastern Europe. The machine is designed for mill roll grinding for the metallurgic industry and for the rolls for the paper factories (delivered to Canada).

- 1995 – 1998 – a process of economical-financial pick-up of the company, reaching a certain stability in 1998;

- An intensive process of re-designing the products already introduced into production takes place. This process has the purpose of increasing performances and quality of the machine tools, according to the standards imposed on the international market: new types of machines have been designed and manufactured for exportation in Italy, U.S.A., Iran, etc.;

- Complex machine tools of large dimensions like Vertical Lathes and Floor Type Boring and Milling Machines are introduced into production;

- 1995 – the Floor Type Boring and Milling Machine, model LUX 18 M, made for the Italian market, is shown at the International Exhibition EMO Milan.

- 1996 – the special quality of the machine tools manufactured under the brand of the factory lead to obtaining the certification of quality standard TÜV – ISO 9001;

- 1996 – 1998 – the company takes part in all annual editions of the International Exhibition in Bucharest, with new, more performant machines: AF 130 H, LUX 18 M, FK 1000, FLP 2200TF.
