  • POSCO (www.posco.com), one of the largest steel producers in the world, was founded in April 1968 in South Korea, starting with practically no capital and 39 employees only. Due to the high efforts of the employees and a strategy combining implementation of new technologies, research and expansion, the company spectacularly increased its production year after year, from 1.03 million tons of crude steel in 1973, to 9.1 million tons in 1983 after four expansions and 50 million tons in 2008. Through its high production of steel, POSCO had and has a very important contribution to the development of the Korean economy. The company also expanded in countries like Vietnam, India and Mexico.

  • POSCO MEXICO S.A. de C.V. was inaugurated on the 6th of August 2009and produces hot and cold rolled steel products (steel sheet, stainless steel, electrical steel and wire rods).

  • The roll grinding machine model RGC 1000x5000 CNC manufactured for and installed at POSCO Mexico is used for grinding large size, heavy rolls for the cold rolling mill. This machine is equipped with roll measuring system and roll defect eddy current and ultrasonic detection system as well as with several special attachments as per the customer’s request. The machine was erected and commissioned at POSCO Mexico site by our specialists who also issued and implemented on the machine the CNC grinding programs for roll of various profiles and dimensions. The commissioning of the machine also included roll grinding tests and training of the POSCO specialists on machine operation, programming and maintenance.

  • The RGC range is suitable for grinding large size, heavy rolls, such as work, intermediate, back-up rolls as well as special design rolls. The model RGC 1000 x 5000 CNC can grind rolls of up to 1000 mm diameter and 5000 mm length and maximum weight 30.000 kg on steady rests. The machine structure consists of two parallel beds, roll bed and grinding wheel bed. The roll bed accommodates the tailstock, steady rests and the roll to be ground. The grinding wheel bed provides the Z axis travel, i.e. the longitudinal motion of the grinding wheel carriage. The cross motion (X axis) is performed by the grinding wheel head along the carriage guideways. The roll measuring system and roll testing (eddy current and ultrasonic) system are located on the grinding wheel carriage. Besides the standard attachments (grinding wheel flanges, standard steady rests, static balancing device, set of centers, wheel dressing device and many others), upon customer’s request the machine can be equipped with a wide range of special attachments, such as: tilting motion (B axis) of the grinding head for tapered grinding, grinding wheel diameter measuring system, roll alignment system through steady rest, turning device, special design steady rests, roll soft loader, roll chock tilting devices.
